300 TD Suspension Pump Aluminum Washers

Hello,
I'm looking for the Mercedes part # for these. Is there a substitute that will work? They appear to be an odd size.
Thanks,
Dave (stranded on a small Wa state island)

well what a bummer
well I can think of a lot worse places to be...

Can you tell us which year your Andre "3000" TD is?

Thanks for the response,

The car is an '84 300TD. The washers are the ones on the banjo bolt.
Yea, no auto parts on this island...just a small grocery.

Well I can get out a little way closer...

...but not too far.

(Still being struck where you are can't be all that bad!)

Here's a picture - I guess you mean part number 101?

I got this from the Russian EPC over on EverythingBenz - Mercedes-Benz Forum and Web Search Using Google - but there isn't a part number assigned to part 101...

...however if that is the bit and you are willing to point the site sponsors to this post then perhaps that helps. Sorry I couldn't do more.

If you get really stuck and the old washer is deformed you might be able to make a temporary fix by filing it smooth again - assuming the general store has files, or sand paper (use their shop window as a flat surface on which you place sand paper and then rub washer onto said sand paper etc!!!)

annealed copper washers work the best, make sure they are really soft before use.

Yes, that's the one...'101'

I recall the size is odd. A 10mm id is too small, but a 7/16: too sloppy.
I could ferry over to another island that has an Auto parts store, but fear the Mercedes part is the only one that will work.

Does you Document show the full part number? I would mail for them.

I have a leaky pump and want to swap with another. The old washers might seal if I tighten them a little more, but I don't count on it!

The island is a cool place. My home in Calif is 106F today with smoke from nearby fires.

Over the years I have picked US size Copper Crush Washers that were the close to the size (tight) on the Banjo Bolt and used a fine round File to enlarge the ID.

Another method I have used is to slide the to tight washer over a tapered Punch and supported the Washer on a Deep Socket or the Vice Jaws and tapped on the Punch to expand the ID. That distorts the Washer a little but with Copper it does not matter so much.

To soften the Copper you heat it read Hot. It does not matter if you let it cool slowly or cool it fast by dropping it in Water.

That's a a good idea. Filing the ID of a 3/8 or 10mm washer may be the way to go. I have some tools here...probably files.
Thanks,
D

Hmmm I think you have the info reversed... (I'm guessing you meant 3/8") is too small, and 10mm is too sloppy... no?

Sorry, my mind is mush...been on the island too long.
I meant 7/16 is too loose. 10mm and 3/8 are both too tight.

ahhh. that makes sense.

7/16 is nearly equal to 11mm, so it's got to be like 10.5 or so... I agree that a 10mm filed out would be easier than sourcing the official MB washer...
