It means his vital functions stopped and it sent a coded message to the docs so they could come and revive.

So doctors need a secret code in the US? You can't just say calling Dr Brown anymore?

I'm going to quit going out of town, too many bad things happen when I'm away. :\

Vstech and Kerry, my best to you and your dads, with hopes and prayers that they recover and you have have many more good years of sharing their company.

Code blue. I believe its the same thing in the UK. Maybe not looking at wiki. US/Canada/Aus. Apparently UK hasn't caught up with its former stepchildren.

Thanks I see what is meant now.

The UK hospitals probably use something like that. I've been lucky I haven't been to hospital recently and when I see docotrs on the TV I always zap to the next channel - I've had enough of watching selfish self absorbed bone heads on TV...

Hospitals use a code system to alert an assigned team. This team, of mainly nurses with a lead doctor, is specially trained and directly assigned to code situations. For these codes, they drop everything and come running. That way you don't have to wait for a specific doctor or even nurse to show up.

There are many "colors" Red for fire, blue for medical emergency, etc... Usually, a page for Doctor Firestone, or something similar, is a code for a possible dangerous situation and alerts security personnel.

As in most codes, if you hear of one that mentions the area you are in, get your butt out of the way! They will run you over! Likewise, a page for a doctor may introduce the arrival of drawn weapons!

I'm home again, my father is off the vent, and breathing on his own. he's REALLY cranky not being able to get out of bed, eat or drink, but I think he understands he is recovering from surgery.

An irritable patient is often a patient who is getting better.

John, be patient with him, he's gonna be that way till he realizes he's getting better. I'm glad to hear he's naturally aspirated .

Ha!

I'll have to tell him that one! all the race car's he's built, he DESPISES turbo's and nitrous and blowers... he likes to take a small block, and get it to outperform the blown big blocks... always amazes the tech crew, and the other racers...

Dr's are pushing for a DNR now... he's backsliding and requiring 100%O2... they say improvement is not happening, and a trachea tube will be required if it does not.
