92 300D to Sell or Not
Hey there we got a 92 300D with 164k Miles... Thinking about selling it and want to know what people think its worth realistically and if its really worth selling... '
Its a white 2.5 TURBO runs excellent with plenty of power... Very little rust on the car ... I mean very little, a surface spot around the trunk and a few small surface spots underneath Only thing not working is the AC... Never really cared to look into it... It has new front brakes and shocks, as well as new front ball joint, all high quality parts.. . No oil leaks that I see. One of the headlights is also cracked and the drivers seat (MB TEX) shows some wear Oh and Radio reception is crappy sometimes, I think its the antenna Not sure if its worth selling... Whats it worth... Any out there interested.... Pics coming |
Very desirable cars....love mine...have two of them.
Where do you live? As you describe it....maybe $3500? If can can confirm the AC compressor runs, that might help your cause. |
all caps in a thread is akin to YELLING. it's considered impolite, and drastically turns off anyone who reads it.
why don't you edit the post and remove all the caps... |
i'm gonna guess he lives in wisconsin....and i really wish someone would sit me down and explain the whole caps=yelling thing. when someone is yelling at me i can't avoid the increased decibel level; when i read caps i can choose to read it anyway i want....sheesh

This thread is worthless without pics.

Hogweed,
It's just long established Netiquette. The reason people put their quotes in CAPS is to get it noticed so equating it to yelling is not too much of a stretch. When I see all caps, I usually just skip the whole post. |
W124 cars are highly resistant to showing rust if you just do a quick topside inspection.
When a car has been subjected to salt belt winters for 20 or so years, it can be quite bad underneath. I had a Pittsburgh car a few years ago that looked perfect on the outside. It was an unmitigated disaster underneath. Every bolt was frozen, every pipe was either very rusty or already leaking, brakes were frozen, and the rear subframe was rusted out, as was the body where it was (supposed to be) mounted. Never again. The value of this car is dependent upon the rust damage underneath. It's a desirable model, and if not rusty, commands a premium over the gassers. Jim |
Dude... promise me that you won't write your ads in Caps...

Ok really sorry about the caps I wrote the first post on my tablet. Here are a few pix to start with. The Car is actually very solid underneath. Some peeling undercoat right above the rear diff, also some surface rust above the and around the trunk lock, an odd spot far as I'm concerned.
Again everyone I am really sorry about the caps. The car runs excellent and is my daily driver, only reason I am thinking of selling is because I found a Subaru WRX wagon I really want. Here are some prelimanary pics I will post more if anyone is interested. I addition the shroud is missing in the pic because I cracked it leaning over the engine and took it out, bought another ready to install Again please share opinions and Im sorry about the caps |
Really, don't worry any more about the caps. A very minor annoyance at best.

Is that rust I see at the bottoms of the doors and on the door sills?
|
I thought a TD would be a station wagon and I was really quite interested, but at a quick glance it is just another 300D (probably with a turbo), but not a 300TD.
