W1223 tail pipe temperature

I'm working on a design for a W123 trailer hitch. Since I'm not interested in rerouting/messing with the tailpipe, I'm wondering if anyone has measured the temperature of the tail pipe. Since it would be within 0.5-0.75" from a hanger, I'm wondering whether a hi-temperature powder coat paint would hold up or whether it would be better to go with an exhaust system paint.

I measured 230 deg. F with an infrared gun but then I pulled over while driving on the interstate to do so. I assume that things had a bit of a chance to cool down.

Thanks for the help!
