Rebooting UCA?
Found some "new" MB UCAs at PNP in good shape.
Removing them from the car pressed out some grease and flattened them. Has anyone shot grease in these? Also, I guess there is a MB boot kit available.1165860533 upper control arm ball joint boot kit, W116, 123, 126 Has anyone installed these boots? I always thought you had to buy a whole new arm if they were bad. New MB UCAs are 400.00. I got these for 12.00 each It didn't take much to clean them up Jeff

There is 2 ways to re-grease them.
Remove the Boot Retainer Spring and apply Grease all over the Shaft and install the Boot. That will push the Grease up. Do as above but fill the boot with Grease. Leave the boot installed and get a Meat type Syringe or a Needle for your Grease Gun and slide the needle parallel to the Ball Joint Shaft and under the Boot and inject the Grease inside it.

Nearly pristine used UCAs at a pick'n pull. Really? Everyone in the rust belt hates your guts right now .
I just did my lower balljoints by swapping spindles, so I bought one of the UCA boot kits in case I mangled a boot separating the spindle. The kits are cheap but FWIW I would go the grease injection route if possible, that is if you are sure you didn't tear the boot and the joint is still tight.

If that car, had those on it....I would be pulling the motor....it is probably a factory crate motor, just out of the crate....it was probably junked soon after because the vacuum locks didn't work

Good score Jeff.
I had a nick in one of the BJ boots, so got a good one from PNP, filled it with grease and slipped on the spring. using the needle is a good idea. I found a set of upper arms on an 80 300D last year that were fairly new. put those on my 85 300D. I pulled off some good Tie Rod boots for some put on by my indie one time when the alignment shop said they couldn`t turn the Rods to adjust them. have no idea what brand, but the boots sure didn`t last, were all cracked but not opened up yet. which grease?
There's a couple of nicks in the boots and grease is coming out, so I'm going to try using the re-boot kit.
What grease should go in there? Thanks, Jeff
