Only in Texas!

There is a Mercedes involved, so I can't be off topic. After a Friday night in Texas, this is what we have to deal with...

That's what comes of drinking and driving!

Funny thing about armadillos... I hear they have a defensive reflex where if attacked, they jump about 2 feet in the air and roll up in a ball. Might have worked in the Pleistocene but...

Not too healthy when that 2 feet is about bumper height in many large vehicles today...

God rest his soul.

For some reason, they do that down there. The first time I flew in to Dallas and hopped in a rental car, I found myself wondering the same thing. WTF is with the traffic lights? LOL

Pretty common setup when the lights are suspended on cables. It makes the lights visible even in high wind situations, such as when a severe thunderstorm rolls through the area.

In light of the original post, I can't tell if that is a Lone Star Longneck. I believe that's their favorite brew.

I'm not sure what brand of beer that is. It could be a Budweiser. The important thing is that he finished it! LOL

The traffic lights are horizontal (my best guess) so the wind during storms does not swing them around as much. Jooseppi is from MA and up there they have vertical mounted lights (mostly) and much less of a frequency of storms with high wind.

Yeah, they do jump like that. It is meant to confuse and surprise a potential predator. If I ever have to hit one on the road, I hope I am driving my truck. 2ft would be close to bumper-level with my F250. I hear they sometimes jump after the front bumper passes over them. With such a hard shell, small cars have been known to be disabled from pinched or broken fuel, tranny, coolant, etc lines. Any low-riding cars that contact an armadillo will naturally need cosmetic and body work afterward.

Thats not just a Texas thing but it is a southern thing. Most if not all traffic lights in Florida are like that too.

The lights are not a TX thing at all. They are mostly in the south where we have the potential of high winds during storms. 'Dillers are awesome but I loathe to run one over...Squirrels, though, I will go out of my way to flatten one of those little sons of B's!
