Throttle Linkage Fab
In searching for this issue I only found a very old thread which offered no solution to the ridiculous PLASTIC ball sockets used in a bunch of Benzes.
In my case an '87 300D. The stealership won't sell the sockets themselves. They'll soak you for $46 for the sockets and the threaded rod. THAT PN: 1100701675. After an hour or so of digging, I found this PN: W0133-1901256. Auto Parts Warehouse (among others) had them for $7.95 each. Metal too. When they arrived, I realized the original rod had not only damaged threads, but one end is left-hand threaded (so you can adjust the length I guess). My new sockets were BOTH right-hand threaded. I bought two 5mm bolts and lock nuts and welded them together. It works and is the same length as the original. FWIW

I am surprised you didn't find my post on the matter. I bought one from the dealer. $28 shipped to me. Turn out it was. 115 part and I probably could have found a rod in the junkyard for $5

Linkage rods (throttle and other)
I have a collection of all-metal linkage rods and can probably help anyone who needs one. See the picture in post #5 of this thread. All I need to know is the center-to-center distance between the sockets. Contact me via PM.

Hi guys, I wonder if anyone can help me out and tell me how in the world I can get the plastic end back inside the metal ball. I just spent the whole day changing glow plugs, put everything back together except for the linkage that broke on me while trying to push the plastic into the metal ball. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Did you try to use some grease to get it to pop on? I haven`t delt with the plastic sockets. source some metal sockets as Jeremy mentioned in the above post and link.
Do you have any PNP type yards where you live? go in there and grab a few of the junkers. Charlie
