Throttle part ID

100 miles from home, lost my throttle (actually it ran away, and I had to cut the engine and coast to the next exit). The part that has the stop lever on it has a piece of rubber sandwiched between two metal plates. The rod from the firewall bushing is inserted into this piece and then a clip fastens the rod to a tab on it to hold the rod to the stop lever (and fuel pump via a linkage).

The rubber cracked in half on the road, and there was no way to fasten it in the field in a way that I felt comfortable with - hello AAA!

I am not sure what that part is called, whether PelicanParts might have it, or how much it will cost.

Any help?

I call it a throttle bushing.
It would be nice to know which one of your 2 Cars you need it for?
The one place listed it as: Accelerator Cable Part; Accelerator Linkage Pivot Mount at Firewall
They are in the $50-$60 range.

Below is a pic of the one for My 84 300D.

It's not that...there is a rod that connects that bushing in the photo to the part that broke. It is attached to the valve cover. It is two flat plates of metal (the front one has the stop lever integrated into the top of it, and the back one has a hole that the rod passes thru. I must have left the broken half on the roof of the car before the tow, b/c I cant find it now. I will take a photo of the part still attached tomorrow when I have light again.

This is on the 1980. the part does look different on my '79

Every place I look they only show the ones on the Fire Wall not the one up forward. Auto Haus Az shoes 2 types of fire wall bushings and one nylon linkage bushing.

YES!!!! Thankw cooljjay, that's it - looks like 154Euros >$204 US from the classic center website ugh......
May try to hit up a junkyard to see if I can find one in decent shape.....

That part is still available from the dealer. If you have the Loot, they have the parts. It is $365.00.

Well they still have the part, and I had mine Zip tied for a while, and finally found a good one in PNP. most of them are hard as a rock and ready to break. a couple were bolted together. the rubber is a vibration dampener.

From what I have seen, 1980 was the year I have noticed them.

I was thinking that the throttle bushing on the Fire Wall might work. the rubber part looks the same, remove the Roller Skate wheel and do some modifying to make it fit/work.

If you look at the rubber part it is close. A good rainy day project when I don`t have anything to do.

Do you mean models from 1980, or only 1980?

No problem, but I think you might be better off just switching to the more common linkage, I don't think it will be that big of an ordeal to do...I think as was said you'll have a hard time finding a good used one...

I meant models of model year 1980. That seems like the only year I have seen them on.

AS Cooljay said, you might be able to switch to another Linkage set up.

If it was possible to index the 2 sides properly does anyone think that you could get a new clean piece of sheet Rubber (OSH Hardware used to sell it) and simply Superglue it to the metal Parts?

I don't think it is in an areas where the Heat I high enough to mess with the Super Glue.

Also is the Rubber that vital to the assembly. Perhaps a Plat of Aluminum or Steel Could be JB Welded between the 2 linkage 1/2s.

Someone else has felt your Pain.

Post #9 has that part number you gave and back in 2011 it was $211.

Just to update this thread, the part # for my vehicle is the one in the second edit in the first post. It has two plates separated by a rubber cushion and the stop lever is integrated into it.

I found a local indy who had bought a bunch of NOS parts and my heart leaped when he told me he had it for $75 based on the pic I sent to him.
But it was ever so slightly different. the rod from the firewall bushing connects via a slot on mine, and his had a hoop. Also the rear plate was slightly smaller.

So, the best price I have found now is $234. Gonna have to take the plunge b/c right now it is just JB-welded together, and I figure that won't last.

Wife will not be happy if she finds herself driving at WOT around town!

A logical answer

I re-cast the rubber joint, it is not difficult and cheaper...
