OM603 belt tensioner bolt "sealant"
I am planning to change the belt tensioner and belt on my 300D within the next week or so, and think I have all my ducks in a row other than the Omnifit 100 Orange sealant listed in the FSM. I've seen some people say they used blue threadlocker, and others red. In sixto's DIY (which is a huge help, thanks!) it says Locktite 271. 1) Is Permatex 27140 interchangeable? All the cross-references I find list Permatex 27100, but not 27140 specifically. 2) The product info on Locktite 271 or Permatex 27100 says it can't be removed unless heated to 500 degrees F??? What if I need to get the bolt out again someday? Would blue maybe be better? Obviously I don't want it to leak or fall out, but I don't want to end up with something I can't remove for the next repair.

blue threadlock is what you need and a torque wrench.

Thanks! That's also what the dealer parts guys recommended. I do have a torque wrench and will use it ... I'm very paranoid about undertightening OR overtightening ... the latter especially because I read this thread: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/109058-om603-freak-failure-timing-cover.html ... and have an engine # in the 7,000s (early).

then you also might want to clean the threads before sealing it.
