(Even though this is on a gasser, posting here because it seems like a generic question.)

1990 190E, recently acquired. The dealer disconnected the left rear window (on same circuit as front right) because fuse kept blowing. Any idea as to where disconnection likely to be? Behind door panel or some place else? Thought I might investigate.

I would pull the door card and the b-pillar and inspect the wire pack.

MB had a bad habit in the 80s and 90s of using wires with a low strand count across the hinge. It causes the wires to break from flexing and short out.

I'd check to see if they unplugged one of the switches. First the one in the left rear door. Then the one in the center console.

They'd have to cut power to the switches because simply disconnecting the motor leaves the most likely candidate of bad wiring through the hinge area available to blow the fuse. I don't know if disabling the power supply at the console switch cuts power to the door switch as well, but that's at least one place they'd have to break a connection. A really seasoned tech could have mechanically disabled the switches. If they knew the motor was the problem, they could have disconnected the wires to the motor.
