4 Piston Calipers w124
 
Any of you experts know if the 4 piston calipers from a 1993 300E will fit a 1995 E300D? Are they a bolt on, do I need the spindle or anything else and lastly (which should have been firstly) is the change worth doing?

You'll need the later style gas control arms with the welded in ball joints. The 4 pistons calipers bolted right up to my stock 87 spindles.

The brakes will fit with the old style control arms if you use used rotors. Which is what I did. However it will rub your heatsheilds. I am probably going to just swap back to floating calipers.

I was not blown away by the performance. Painted gloss silver they looked good behind my CLK wheels but its not like it stops like a E63.

Wow, I didn't realize the M104 engine 300E/E320 had 4 piston calipers. I owned a 300E 2.8 for many a year. It made do with floating single piston calipers at the front. That's quite a brake upgrade for another 0.4 liters of displacement...

First one I have seen at the junk yard with the 4 piston calipers...just wondering if they are the same as the 400E 4 piston calipers? maybe they have smaller rotors I didn't have a caliper or tape to measure them.

After 126/123/107 all of them will mount up. Some additional work may be needed. I have been wishing for a set of 4 or 6 pots aluminums. I certainly think the stopping performance of the 4 pots was much better than floating.
