Reasons to keep your ABS running.
I broke the ABS sensor cable in the diff when I dropped the subcarrier. Last week I flat spotted the tires during an emergency stop on the off ramp. Now its like my bearings are busted with a consistent bump bump bump bump. GRRR.

Practice Your Threshold Braking
It takes a big lockup to flat spot soft compound racing tires and it takes a HUGE lockup to flat spot a road tire. I'm afraid the primary fault here was improper use of your foot.
Those tires might smooth out again with some additional miles, or they might not.

I'm pretty sure you can still lock up the wheels on an ABS car with functioning ABS. I have only had one car with ABS and I had it for about 9 months before I traded it in. It was a 6 cylinder Chrysler Cirrus powered by 4 cylinders.

They smoothed out with some additional wear on NC209 this weekend, AKA "the rattler". No problems with the foot, it knows where the go and nogo pedals are. I think its these nexen tires on the front. I had another braking incident today with far less speed and full lockup. I am running 4pots with 225 tires. Thinking front bias might also be to blame, the rears are still stock.

A good basic explanation of threshold braking (with a thick accent):
How threshold braking technique works. A demonstration of what it looks and sounds like in practice with a modestly skilled driver. Note the very brief lock ups that are then released. Sam Audi S4 Threshold Braking - YouTube As practiced by a somewhat skilled driver in a crap car (:50 to :55), along with some other interesting stuff including some ABS use: Jeremy Clarkson - on Stopping Distances! - YouTube Obligatory F1 video (ABS is banned in F1): Mercedes: The art of braking in F1 - YouTube

I guess the ABS on that car didn't work. Not surprised...
