240D EGR Delete Vacuum Questions

Is there a diagram somewhere for what to do on a 240D with the two valves on top of the valve cover?

Is one just for EGR and is one for shifting? Or do they both get used?

I need to be able to control my automatic transmission, but my euro motor does not have EGR so I need to do something with that end of the system.

I googled this, but most of the talk is for 617s that don't use those valves for shifting.

I have all the stuff on the shelf to do it, but this is my fathers 240D and he doesn't like driving manual cars.

So thats not a solution.

One of those valves definitely controls the transmission shift characteristics.

The safest bet, unless someone knows that system intimately, is to simply remove the hose from the EGR valve and plug the hose. Nothing regarding the transmission will be affected.

I usually just delete all the plumbing on the valve cover. I can't feel any difference in shifting on cars with the plumbing connected, and cars without it. All of my automatics have simple vac plumbing: "Y" with one going to the modulator, one going to the VCV, and the other to the vac source. I don't have any other vac plumbing on the engine hooked up (save the shutoff of course).

You need to be a bit careful on the 240's. Sometimes that plumbing operates the transmission............but, I'm not clear on which years have this condition.

Exactly, and the only thing needed in my opinion (and experience) is just what I described in post #5.

Just unplug the rubber hose at the EGR end and stick a BB in it. Did mine 10 or 15 years ago with no problems.
