OM617 IP Missing Bolt?

So, I just picked up a spare IP for my 300TD buy there seems to be a missing bolt on the back cover. Does anyone know what's supposed to go there? See below.

That is where the part that has various names goes. The Rack Dampener Pin Mercedes/Governor Idler Adjustment Pin; Part 1420560014; Bosch Part 0000742674. And, there would be an O-ring and a lock Nut to go with it.

If you shop around the bare Bolt can be had for about $53 each.
If you swap the Pump You bought with the one on the Engine you can transfer the Rack Dampener Pin.

However, when I bought a New one for My Fuel Injection Pump I found the old one had a worn tip and the spring was a lot weaker.

Thanks Diesel! I was almost positive that's what it was, just wasn't sure. Would there be any advantage to purchasing a new one versus re-using the old one? The one currently on the car has a smidge over 215k miles on it.

The one with the worn tip and weak Spring was the original from My Car with 198K on it.

However, if the old one you have is still doing the job of reducing the shaking there is no reason to change it.

If you are a Person who goes to the Junk Yard once in a while see if you can find a new style gold colored one.
