interior light does not come on when door opens
I have a 1980 300TD and recently the interior light doesn't come on when I open the drivers side door (never came on with passenger). The light works fine if I manually turn the switch on. The rear cargo area comes on when I open the rear doors. Where should I start to trouble shoot this issue?

Open the door and pop the little push switches out....replace them or if you have confidence in repairing stuff....they easily pop open and disassemble for cleaning....a little tricky to pish back together but not hard.....

i'd check the contact switches on the door. at 33 years old, if they're original they've seen a lot of use/are probably gunked up by now. the switches can be hard to remove because they're held in place by hidden tabs. you kind of have to pull the switch out a little and get something underneath it to push the tabs in (top and bottom).

Awesome...thanks guys. Just to clarify...there is only one "switch" or contact point that would activate the lights when the door opens...and that would be the push switch pictured above??

Anyone have any suggestions on the rear dome light? I am 99 percent sure the hatch latch, but just want to be sure. Thank you all in advance!

My new hella door switches came in and the light now comes on for the passenger door. Nothing for the drivers door still. Any know of any known areas where the wires go that might be disconnected or frayed?
