300D not shifting out of 2nd
1984 300D will intermittently stay in 2nd gear and not upshift.
I disconnected the Kickdown switch connevtion under the pedal think that may help-but 4 out of 5 times when dribving, the 300D will not upshift out of 2nd. Sometimes I can stop the car, turn off the igintion, wait 10 seconds and turn the inition back on and now 300D will shift fine. Reverse is OK. Any thoughts? Assistance is appreciated! |

I don't think the key has anything to do with it. Can you shift it up thru the gears manually? What happens when you hold the pedal to the floor and wind it out? Will it up shift at high rpm's? Is the bowden cable moving freely?

Have you replaced any of the shifter bushings?
How's your vacuum system? Any leaks? How's the linkages? Specially the one on the firewall.... When was the last time the transmission was serviced?

Thanks for your reply
Bowden cable seems snug. The 300D will run wide open, RPMs roaring-but no upshift |
