Delivery valve w124
The renewing of the delivery valve seals on my 1987 300d is now necessary because of persistent leaking. Looking at the FSM, it is required to remove the air cleaner as the first step. Is this really necessary since it's clear on the other side of the engine? And they ignore removing the plates at the bottom of the delivery valves that are there to keep the valves from loosening probably because of the small amount of torque-35nm on the valves.

Is your FSM for a non-turbo engine? You should not have to remove the air cleaner or intake manifold on a turbo engine to change the delivery valve orings and washers.

Yes, I have the turbo version that doesn't have the air cleaner - which I realized right after sending the message. Thanks pwogaman.
