2.5 delivery valve springs in a 3.5?

I'm going to be replacing my delivery valve springs soon. The FSM says you should replace the springs that hold the valves closed while you have the holders apart.

I think my motor has about 70,000 miles on it. I just came into a good deal on a new set of springs, but EPC says they're for the 2.5 and 3.0 Turbo engines not the 3.5. I'm wondering what the difference is? Should I use these? PN is A0010743493.

Thanks,

-J

I don't have a specific answer.
When I worked in a Fuel Injection Show there was no inline Fuel Injection Pumps Fuel Injection Pump the Springs were replace on even during a rebuild unless the was some physically viewable problem with them.

Delivery Valves also were only replaced when they showed unacceptable wear.

You also need to find out if the Delivery Valves on the Pumps are different as the could be a different over all height.

The Delivery Valve, the Spring and the Holder all have fit and work together properly.

Higher spring pressure will act like cut DVs, so will a higher spring rate.
The effect will increase as spring pressure is increased.

Softer springs will tend to reduce fuel, cause nailing in extreme cases from what I have found.

Can you provide some context to your opening line? What makes you think delivery valve springs with only 70K miles need attention?

001 074 36 93 is $7 list so probably discounts to $5 each... seems pricey for springs out of a ball point pen but $30 isn't enough savings to me compared with the possibility of having to do the job again. Oh, and factor the cost of another set of o-rings and washers if you have to replace the springs a second time
