no crank problem 85 300TD
I could not get wagon to crank. I took jumper cables from neg battery to engine and it final cranked and started.
I have removed neg battery cable and clean both ends and reconnected still no crank. Can anyone tell me where the engine ground straps are located? And any other grounds I should be looking at? Thanks |
Underneath on the bellhousing I think. Does it still crank by jumping the negative terminal to the block?

it should be directly below the brake pedal on the 123... I've got an 85 sitting in my yard with the engine removed, ground strap in place, if you need a picture...

Well I removed the neg from the battery cleaned both ends put back together and still no crank so I did the jumper cable to the block didn't work the first time so I reposition the cables and it was slow to crank but started and I put it up on ramps.also put the battery on a charger.I
I located the ground strap from the tranny to the frame. I took the end off the frame and clean and replaced and tried again no crank. So I took the end off the tranny that was a bit of a bear and was real oily so I clean it up and reattached and now it cranks.:D Are there more grounds I should be looking at? Thanks for the replies so far. |
