Repeated premature clutch slave failure.
3 different brands, the current one being ATE. Anyone experiencing this or have suggestions on how to fix?

ive had two in a row fail once, but figured it was a fluke. Third one lasted forever. Never 3 in a row.
Maybe aftermarket is an option? I cant remember what you said, but were you running some kind of stiffer clutch? Ive been very pleased with my wilwood aftermarket clutch master personally

Did you in fact find a defect in each slave, or is the clutch not disengaging, with unidentified cause. Understand that the process of replacing the slave may change something which temporarily fixes the problem. Will putting the old one in fix it for some duration? (PIA, I know).
Did you bleed well, do you have to bleed repeatedly? Will air come out if you bleed it now? Water in the brake fluid can corrode the slave cyl, but this takes a while. Does the slave appropriately engage the release fork?

The problem in all three cases was occasional pedal to floor with fluid leaking into the trans. I have not looked this time but pedal has gone to floor several times over the months and brake light fluid is coming on (now that its working heh).

Sadly I just purchased 2x PEX from a competitors site. Keep forgetting how valuable Pelican is these days. *IF* there is a next time I will get the OE from here.

I cannot see how could 3 NEW slave cylinders fail. Did you bleed the clutch properly from the bottom? I changed the M and S clutch cylinders on my 190D. They were dirt cheap close-out units and they work fine.

I always bleed from the bottom up. The first one, granted came with the trans, unknown age. The second one was a rebuild and the third an ATE. I did find several references to failed ATE's of late...

What kind of brake fluid are you using?

I've always used "Febi" on my 123s and never a problem.

There is a 2mm thick spacer that goes between the slave cyl and bell housing. Without it you can over pressure the system when pressing the pedal all the way to the floor.
