Got the sway bar links and they appear to be made out of plastic.

Seriously, is plastic gonna be strong enough?

Yeh....that's what they were originally....on post 1980s models.....metal ones can be had but I believe they are made by uro.....I replaced my worn and broken metal links with the plastic ones.....and I think they are a big improvement.....things stay put in the trunk a lot better...

You guys were right - it was the sway bar that was disconnected.

It was easy, but not as easy as cooljjay had promised, LOL!

Had to jack up the tire slightly to get more room, darn bolt was rusted on.

It only took me 1.5 hrs for the one right side. Took my time and made one mistake - I put in the one bottom end, I realized I forgot the washer - had to undo and put in again.

I'm sure the other side will be faster but saving that for when it breaks and needs the change.

Of course, the trunk Monkey!

No wonder my trunk is such a mess!

Sorry about that I didn't have any rust issues and nothing frozen on....granted it took me longer to remove and replace the tire then to install the link.....I would also replace the other side now....the car handles so much better with both replace.....I was only going to replace my broken one, but opted to do both....the other had extremely lose joints and the plastic was hard and cracking....I kept it as a spare and put the new one on...

You're probably right, I should change it now.

Forgot to mention - right before I started, I called the mechanic to see if, by chance, I could schedule an appointment for them to replace it.
No one answered, left a voicemail.

Well, still waiting for a call back.

In the meantime, job done!

Holy smokes!

And if that is true, that is $400 net (after-tax) dollars so, it may be closer to about $500 (pre-taxed earnings, using about a 20% tax rate as an example).

BTW, does anyone know if this device is supposed to have a hose attached? That part that is pointing down in the picture looks as if it could attach to something?

That would be your ada it is a non turbo us spec alda....its to adjust the fuel at altitude....has no hose that connects to it....

You have a lot of oily mess on the engine, I want to say you have a diesel leak somewhere....probably the return lines....may also have a bad valve cover gasket....I would look into it...

Oh yes, and this is after I cleaned up the mess!

Happened right after the last oil change - the cap was off and oil was everywhere, especially on the hood!

Didn't know until the next day after driving it about 100 miles, cause I started smelling oil burning, and looked under the hood.

I thought the cap failed and was gone, but luckily, I had an extra one. But then I found the original one, had fallen down into the engine, and it looked perfect.

So, I'm racking my brain - did I not put the cap on correctly?

I did find another thread where the same thing happened to someone else.

Wouldn't the oil pressure gauge have gone down if the cap was off?

nope. oil pressure would not be affected by oil splatter from lack of cap until you lost over 6 quarts of oil... just a BIG MESS to clean for sure...
