all accessories work with key off?

Noticed this on my 300sdl when i got it. I didnt think this out of the ordinary as my Land Rover seat and window switches work after the key is off until the door is opened . This and that the Land Rover switches are actually MADE BY MERCEDES. So now its raining here, really baffled me as the wipers work with the key off, out of ign. Ect. And after driving the rover for a few days the battery will run dead. This is a brand new battery and alternator charges 13.9v. So is this a common problem? Has anyone experienced this?

Your question in a bit hard to understand but I think you are saying the 30SD is the car with the problem with lets say: "Power on the WS Wipers of the 300SD with the key off and removed". Correct?

My SD needs the key on for wipers to work. Your problem is a problem and not normal.

To me, since all the stuff is energized with the key off, my gut feeling is a previous owner jumped a contact or two across the main ingnition switch switch instead of replacing a bad ignition switch. This would of been done jumping wires at the back of the Ignition Switch.

2nd perhaps a previous owner jumped some circuits in the fuse box either where the fuses go or under this fuse panel tray. Look around and see what is jumped out.

More important is to know why this stuff was jumped out.

Yes, sorry. Its the 300sdl with the issue. (Land Rover is a whole other NOVEL of issues)

Your suggestion of the wires being jumped was my first thought also. I was more thinking they rubbed through each other (batt. + and acc.) But obviously your scenerio seems more likely.

The contact bridge (diode holder) in the fusebox is bad.
