Climate control question

I'm posting from work, so pics will come later on; I'm in the middle of troubleshooting my climate control because it was stuck in one position. After finding out that the POs had really messed up the vacuum in the car I connected everything where it's supposed to be and Oh the joy! It's working beautifully! Except for one small detail. It's only blowing hot air. Can't get it to blow cold air. it's blowing cold just fine on the bottom ones that go to the back, but the front ones, all blow hot for some reason; all vacuum was checked by the manual and I'm pretty sure it's routed correctly; is there something else that switches from hot to cold or should I triple check my routings?

Read up on the monovalve. If it's stuck open, there'll be more heat than AC can overcome. Air to the rear seat register doesn't go through the heater core.

Check that the monovalve has a solid ground through one wire and +12V through the other when the ACC is on max cooling but not defrost or EC. One monovalve wire has +12V when the key is on RUN so just checking for voltage isn't a sufficient test. The PBU (or external temp control unit in older 126s) sends a ground signal to close the monovalve.

Is the compressor engaging?

The A/C condenser blew a 1/2 inch hole 3 weeks after I got the car 4 years ago and I never fixed it, so I'd say by now the thing is garbage, so no, the compressor is not engaging at the moment... I'll check the voltage, but it was blowing cold air (or should I say unheated air) just before I rerouted all the vacuum hoses... I'm wondering if the vacuum also controls temp selection?

AFAIK there's no vacuum control of temperature. Temperature is purely electrical. If the vacuum plumbing to the register selection pods is incorrect, it's possible to get heated air out of the center vents which is otherwise not a standard function. But the issue seems to be that the air is warm at all when you don't expect it to be. You know that the DEF setting means max heat, right?

This is a US car with single channel automatic climate control, right?

Yep, US car, single channel CC, replaced it once and this one seems to do the job... I do have the owners manual which I read before messing around with the whole thing; It does blow hot air on DEF, but it also blows hot air on ECON. I didn't test it today but I'm planning on working on it tomorrow and I'll give more details, hopefully with pics and a video. Thanks so much for your input!
