You can probably use a threaded rod, sockets and washers in place of a press. You already have silicone spray :)

I've forgotten how I went about installing this UCA that failed, but I'm assuming that I should torque the bolt that goes through the bushing while the car is on the ground.

Did you replace the UCA or just the bushings?

The car usually sits higher when first lowered off stands. Do a couple of hard stops to make sure it's properly set. Is it an eccentric bolt?

Guide Rod Mount
 

After almost 2 years of wondering what the hell this sound is and a complete front end rebuild, it turned out to be the guide rod mount on the driver's side. It turns out that a $13 GRM with bracket from the pick and pull is better than a brand new $66 Febi. I know that what I have on there isn't a long term solution, but I'm sick of throwing money at the front end of this car and was willing to do something as desperate as throw a junkyard suspension part on the car just to help pinpoint the problem.

Replacing a GRM on the W126 is pretty simple since the bracket drops down from the frame and then you just screw the mount off of the guide rod. I needed the spring compressor to take the load off of the LCA so that I could push it forward a little bit to line the bracket up with the two holes that it screws into.
