Injector plungers scared cause knock?

I have a knock coming from piston 3 and 5 on my 300d. I'm running bosio nozzles and had one looking pretty carbon fouled, so I took it apart to find that it was completely black and the metal was pitting, I don't think it seated right. I took plunger out and noticed that it had a millimeter long scare in the middle of it. I had a old injector body laying around and swapped the nozzle into it to see if I could get the nozzle to seat right. Now it pings, from the injector I worked on, and knocks from the other one. It's also missing once in awhile. I'm not super impressed with bosio nozzles right now and wondering if I should spend $100 and buy two new nozzles or cut my loses and try something else. Will the scare cause my knocking and pinging?

Was it Black inside of the Nozzle and Injector?
Or was it Black on the outsider like it did not seal around the Heat Shield (you need to replace the Heat Shields with New Ones each time the Injectors are removed or combustion gasses can get buy them)?

The scratch on the Pintel of the Injector Nozzle could be caused by something already in the Nozzle when is was shipped from the Factory; why you need to clean them before you install them.
Or, during the rebuild process some dirt was in the little passages of the Injector Body.
Or, when the Injectors were installed on the Engine there was dirt in the Fuel Injection Hard Lines or dirt got in the top of the Injector where the Hard Line connects.

And, the above stuff is if you were using Diesel Fuel or commercial Biodiesel.

i think i may have scared it myself. its misfiring when cold and now its misfiring in the 3,000 RPMS when in 3rd gear and i started smoking pretty bad, even worse when i start misfiring. the knock is gone when i start it up in the cold or if i add something to lube up my diesel and idle after a long drive. i think it might be sticking.

You didn't mention if you pop tested the newly-nozzled injector and brought it to spec with the others.
