I'm building one using moldless foam methodology used in experimental aircraft construction. The foam mold is done, I just need to do the layup. I'll layup the basic tank over the foam mold, then cut it in half, remove the foam, add some baffles and then glass it back together. Then I'll glass in a flush aluminum fill and a pickup. I expect to keep it simple and use a very simple transfer pump to move the fuel from the aux tank to the main tank - no switchover valve or fuel level sensor.

Those look desireable for novelty, like having a rare luggage rack on a VW Bug. I don't know that I would actually put fuel in a can with a side outlet, and rely on the cap being a perfect seal. At least it isn't gasoline.
