300TD auxillary fuel tank spare tire well

Do any of you guys remember a post about such a thing? 300TD auxillary fuel tank that fit in the spare tire well? Maybe a part number or a source?
I'm not positive I saw it here but I haven't read any other forum since I signed up here shortly after I purchased my TD, so either I dreamed of
one or saw it here.

They exist

I've got one mocked up ready for a fiberglass and epoxy layup for my diesel 107, which would give me a max range of 1147mi on the highway.

They're NLA (no longer available) brand new - best is to get NOS or used.

I sold mine a while back, since I could not make it work with my 300D with factory or 15" bundt spare wheel (the wheels cannot be installed face down unless they're steelies).

FS: NOS MB spare tire mounted fuel canister - Benzworld.org - Mercedes-Benz Discussion Forum

Canister has MB part no. B 6 7 58 0038.

Bag of hardware for installation on a the S123 or S124 (hardware p/n B6 7 58 0033).

According to hardware instructions, it is compatible with:

1. S123 with steel/light alloy rims
2. S124 with steel/light alloy rims

I didn't dream it, but I might be dreaming thinking I could find
one now for a reasonable price

A 20L NATO jerry can is cheaper and more practical. The trunk is designed for it.

So I checked out a few reputable web vendors of these, and apparently they are not for sale in CA. Pitty.

Amazon had no trouble shipping mine to CA.

Atlantic British seems to be the primary vendor of the higher quality 20l NATO jerry cans. They sell them for $40. On their own web site and via Amazon, they claim they will not sell to CA. Other people re-sell them via Amazon for up to $90. Perhaps those vendors have different policies. Do you recall who you bought from on Amazon or what you paid? Thanks.

I don't have the Amazon email anymore, it was more than a year ago. I bought 4 for $100 with prime shipping. They each came with a pour spout (not CARB safety type), mount and spare gasket. I found the deal on BITOG. I use 2 whenever I have $25 off on 25gal of diesel at Safeway/Vons.

Its a perfect fit for the trunk side pocket.
