(I was in the suspension section, incidentally.)

I'll stick with other vendors who can actually ID my ride with minimal accuracy.

I checked once, then went back a month later and it was still the same. Not inspiring for a vendor selling OE stock.
Their catalog is terrible. You need to use the EPC to get part numbers and look up the part numbers directly.

Though I have mentioned other vendors on this board, from time to time, it was only where there were open discussions on specific issues. I don't see a need to here.

I have no issues with PeachParts. I did once, and posted about it. Either someone fixed the issue (which was specific to Canadian shipping methods/prices) or I encountered a glitch at the site when I had my negative experience. In any event, when I next visited PP, the issue wasn't there.

I have not yet encountered a situation where the sole choice was between Genuine Mercedes or a substandard item and I seriously doubt that will happen soon. I shop strategically, and watch for deals on preferred label items and buy them up before I need them (speaking of consumables).

Pretty much all the aftermarket catalogs cannot be trusted. The EPC, which is the official Mercedes catalog, is the ONLY source which is accurate 99.99% of the time. And it's where you'll find informatoin about chassis/engine number breaks or model year breaks. The aftermarket catalogs rarely have this. It's not new. Back in the 1990's you couldn't get the EPC without paying big bucks for a bootleg version as MB wouldn't let it into the hands of the pub-lick. In the 21st century we can now get legal access to the EPC, at least in the USA, for free at:

I've run into this multiple times where the only option was OE or URO/APA/FEQ junk. It's not often, but it does happen. Sometimes it's OE or nothing, which is better, because at least then you get a genuine MB part.

On "that" site, as long as you provide your vin # with the order, they verify accuracy. Im sure they verify via EPC. They do not hesitate to call or email if they are not 100% certain. I have NEVER been sent the wrong part for my w124. They forgot a part one time but sent it overnight delivery when I made them aware.

I was recently severely reprimanded on this site with scarlet red letters added to my post not to mention other [non-PP] vendors.

None of my Benzes has needed a waterpump in a vary long time. though I did install a new GMB- Thailand unit in my '96 Camry a couple years ago.
So long as they don't come off the shaft, or the cooling system hasn't been grossly neglected, I don't think there's a significant difference in function of the cast vs stamped-steel impellers. But I'm not a fan of the ever increasing use of plastic for certain items that used to be metal. At the BMW shop I used to work at, there were some failures of the original plastic BMW pump impellers, and all the replacements had welded steel impellers. Also recall replacing the cracked original plastic thermostat housing on a '90s Mercedes with a cast aluminum one.
Today I replaced my 240D thermostat after seeing the temp guage has been staying at the bottom for quite awhile. Got lucky that the three tiny bolts came out easily. The replacement Wahler thermostat was marked 'Germany', though I've seen some replacement Wahlers marked 'China'.

Happy Motoring, Mark

Pfft. that's not a SEVERE reprimand... a Severe reprimand gets you a little red CARD on your post heading... or the lack of ability to log into the site...

to the general members, I just kindly inform that it's frowned upon... the first time...

repeats, well then the warnings get more official... ya gots to KNOW the rules before the penalties get SEVERE!!!

If you want first amendment rights, Herr Troll, you'll need to go elsewhere.

We have such a benevolent society here in America these days, what with Obamacare and all, that I thought I'd at least ask.

Unhinged Trolls are a minority group that have rights too, you know....

There is an Open Discussion subforum, but the "open" really means non-Mercedes issues. The rules on vendor discussions apply there as well, as far as I know.

There is no "wide open" area on this forum, which exists on some.

Benzworld don't seem to care. Maybe post useful stuff about vendors good and bad over there. 123/126/124/210 forums there seem quite active.
