'85 300CD Rear Window Guide Block

I am in the process of re-assembling the right rear window guide block and track. The original guide block jammed in the track because the block broke allowing the thin side piece on the spring loaded side to come loose and become a wedge. I have a new block now from MB ($85 WTF!) and my question is should the spring loaded side of the block face forward or to the rear of the car? The guide block is number 14 on the attached PDF. Maybe is doesn't matter, but better to be safe than sorry.
