How can I find what other model starters will work in my 95 E300d?

ANy know how I can find out what other Mercedes starters will fit my 1995 e300D? I see alot of cheap ones on Ebay that look almost identical but I wont make the purchase until I know it will fit. THanks

EPC has a parts cross reference function

It lets you put in a part number, it tells you where it is used.

Also I would look up your car on EPC and click on the starter, chances are there will be several part numbers with "superseded by" references as M-B consolidated parts down the line.

click the mercedes link at the top of the page, then find the starter for your car, and write down the part number.
then look up similar vehicles.
I'd think any OM60x engine would work with same starter, but your motor may require special orientation, so check first.

pelican lists the same starter for my 87 190D 2.5T as it does for your E300

I guess I was hoping that a gasser would fit but all the ones that fit are all diesel. Most likely because of the added torque required to turn the high compression diesel engines.

Yuup.

Diesel's are a bigger torque starter.
