Car destroyed, now stuck with parts? 300SD 84

Hello wonderful people of the Peachparts forums,

You guys 'n gals have been amazing to me over the years and I'm hoping for some last advice (until I get another Benz :O)

So I was restoring my 300SD 84, and an inattentive driver rear ended me. He hit me " real good", and now I have some parts for it that I don't have any use for. What would you all recommend to do with them? I don't want to ebay them or craigslist them because ... well that should be obvious. I didn't know if it would be ok to post them here for sale at super cheap prices perhaps? I mostly just want to get rid of them, but I'd feel like an idiot if I just gave them away for free.

Looks like I've got shocks, ac parts, differential seal, tie rods, motor mounts, control arms, tranny mount, flex discs, turbo seals, exhaust manifold gasket, ball joints.
Thanks guys for all the help you have given me I am so grateful. Now I'm stuck driving a half dead saturn.... ugh, but I'm sure life will lead me back into the warm loving embrace of a quality german vehicle at some point.

-Mike

Well Mike, people sell parts on the forum every day. And it is free. and you can relist it when ever you want. And you will get good action for all non URO parts. Go to the "Main" page of Peachparts and go down about 8 or 10 headings and you will see "Buy and Sell Parts". Sorry about your 1984 SD. Is it really beyond repair? Do you have pictures?

Show us some pics

I hope you are okay, if the rear end impact damaged the car to the extent you feel it's a loss, you should make sure to be thoroughly checked out by your family doctor, whether or not you went to hospital after the accident. Make sure to document ANY ache, pain or bruise, and I mean ANYTHING. (Voice of experience. )

I would suggest you put up some pics. It takes a fair hit to make a w126 unworthwhile to fix.

And I echo the advice of others on the parts. Pics with the parts being listed are always good too.

The insurance company took it and then "forgot" to let me buy it back before they sold it off for scrap I was going to keep it, but it already had issues with the rear window seal and the hit did bend the body enough to buckle it a bit around the window, and honestly I wasn't super attached to my two month old car by then (I had only had it like two months at that point). She wasn't in good enough condition for me to fight too hard by then.

For some reason I thought that that section was for used parts only. I didn't want to "compete" with Peachparts or anything so I didn't just post first. I'll move my behind to that section then.

Here is the thread from back at the time of the accident, and yes I have been having fun with the whole medical thing... yay

Happy Valentine's Day! German Vs. Korean

It didn't seem like "too much" of a hit, but I have had headaches almost every day since the accident... that was 9 months ago. I had never had a headache before that day so...

Urg. I had a concussion after someone blew through a stop sign and slammed into me last year, and I had the headaches for a while... what are they doing for you?

BTW, what brand shocks are they and how much do you want for them?

Thank YOU for being awesome!!! I was wondering how I could justify replacing the rear shocks in the 300SD... you answered my question!

Seriously, though, how is your (I assume) concussion? Are you getting any treatment for it?

I hear ya. Ever wake up with a 'krick' in your neck? I had permanent one for 8 years after my accident. If you can find a physio who has studied Chinese acupunture and spinal manipulation techniques, I highly recommend you try them. I finally hooked up with such people at year 7 and it took them a year to fix it. The mainstream physios, even sports specialist ones, just made it worse.

Headaches: I had the reverse. I had suffered from regular (at least monthly) migraines since 15. The accident was in 2002 and I have had one or two since. I did not mention that to the insurance company .

Good luck with it.
