Anti social media + my 240D fuel need = unemployed clerk

Note: My 240D fuel level sender is unreliable at the moment + I carry five gallons of diesel in the trunk.

I went to my local fuel station, knowing the tank was almost dry.
The card scanner was not working.

Went inside, the clerk was using an i-phone and tablet with the window closed..

The clerk ignored all of my efforts to communicate.

Finally I walked out, frustrated..

Decided to put in a gallon from the emergency supply, and try the the next station 3/4 mile away.

******************************************************

The station owner and his partner/brother pulled in behind me to fill up..

They asked why I was using a fuel can to fill my tank???

I described my issue, and they changed

the most interesting colors.

They asked me to wait, and went inside.....

A few minutes later police arrived and took the clerk away screaming.

My diesel pump turned on, so I started filling.
The station owner came out assured me the clerk was fired, and handed me a paid receipt for five gallons "as a thank you".

.

Have a friend who is a bartender in a relatively upscale joint.

Recurring problem: waitresses walking with their tray in one hand and texting or checking facebook with their smartphone in the other hand.

With a full tray of drinks, mind you. In a busy club.

Bear in mind that in bars like this, the waitress pays the bar for the drinks when she leaves. So she 'owns' the tray contents until she collects from the customers.

Incredible. They have berated, threatened, etc. but the girls still do it.

The kid is just now reloading his Gun, to come back to even the score. Do you really think he/she learned anything?

It really sucks with the attitude of these younger people now days, they think it is all owed to them. there are no Social skills now with the Texting etc... two of them can be at a Mc D`s and will be Texting ea other from across the table.

Frustrating trying to get someone to take your money. I have had a few interesting experiences over time.

One classic in Cleveland was where all the workers seemed high on drugs. I landed up pre checking the just picked up car myself in their facility on their hoist for the long road trip ahead.

I asked them if they could quickly check the toe in for me as well but was just told it looks okay. I knew it was not. Large independent tire shop doing some mechanical work as well. When we parted there was no bill for the work I did either and use of their hoist etc. They were still friendly but it was a strange event. Basically usually the garage you go to does the work and the owner watches. I think I had several sets of eyes on me when the rear end plug snapped loose for a level check.

You gotta wonder how they keep the doors open or perhaps it was an isolated incident. They also kept asking me why I would come so far for an old car. I wanted to tell them the trunk was full of drugs but thought it unwise even as a joke. They were friendly as hell just impaired.

I also was thinking we as a group should be able to get a mechanic in your area to deal with the wonky fuel gauge. Actually about the only way a mechanics car will be near 100 percent is if two mechanics were to agree to service each others car. With no coin exchanged except for parts perhaps. The reality is that does not happen either.

an old tech teacher once told me-

"the only difference between a average persons car and a mechanic's car is that a mechanic knows whats wrong with it and is comfortable with that."

It's better if you go into the router and mess up the settings. I learned everything I know about computers by messing it up and then figuring out how to fix it. Oh my poor first few computers...

Almost everything of significant value I've learned on my own in life has started out in screaming frustration after messing something up. That results often in a multi threaded search to fix the problem, where I end up learning things on the way that I never would have even thought of, sometimes above beyond and unlrelated to what I was originally having a cow over.So as I get older I get a bit less down on myself for messing stuff up.
Anybody get this, or am I just being a kook?

That's how you learn. I thought catalytic converters were *supposed* to get so hot they melted things on the floor once upon a time.

Just change the SSID and or password. You could also direct DNS lookups to an unused internal IP address, then setup your browser to proxy through the IP address of a remote server and it will look like your machine works just fine but no one else's will.

Verizon Fios had problems accepting my checks one time, so they cut my service by using this cute little DNS redirect. I used a SOCKS proxy to connect to a remote server of mine and I had fully functioning internet access for two months until they completely disconnected the service.
