Note to Self and Maybe Others
A long while back, bought a used mono-valve with the replacement anti-sway bar. Back then, I was really A.S.D. and would just set things where ever; I be "busy" or get distracted. Apparently that is what happened with the mono-valve.
Tried to start fiddling with the Mercedes, however, was getting frustrated with a pile right behind me. Fine, I will force myself to be flexible, and clean that pile up. There was hardware, tools, trash, dirt, and the mono-valve! Woot! Never would have guessed that pile of "trash" contained a treasure! Lessons learned: Unwrap all the way down to the part Put it into the parts bin Keep the garage spotless, for when you drop that hardware, you can actually find it! What a concept! Hope this helps!

Just last night I was updating my list of new and used MB parts. The list needs work because some items have a description, some have a part number, few have both. I have a dozen or so 015 997 94 48 o-rings. My best recollection is they go on an M103 EHA, the devil's engagement gift to his bride. Anyway, it's obvious I've bought and bought again stuff of which I already have a lifetime supply. If online stores want to provide value for all the personal information they collect and deduce, they should tell you how many you bought and how long ago when you add an item to the shopping cart.

You buy something and print the invoice. Then when the item arrives, put the paper with the item so you know what it is? Or how about a spreadsheet? Date Purchased, what was purchased, for what project? Then each bin gets a number/name? My Volkswagen parts are all in bins by category, but that is when I had to store most of her parts inside her. Now that I have a home, finding it difficult to find a system and the space for it. Maybe I need to go through the bins and pull out the odds and ends from moving, plus the Volvo parts.

I can and I'll do a better job of it as my list is updated in Excel, but why don't they? Why doesn't Netflix tell me I rented/watched that movie a couple of months ago?
Lucky you and your bins. I added a column to my list telling me where the part is since everything goes into nondescript boxes in deep shelves. My list shows a shift rod bushing in one box and a shift rod bushing with clip in another box Sixto 87 300D |

Damn straight about Netflix. They should have a little window pop up and say "You idiot, you rented this last year. Go get your memory checked." It would save me a lot of time.

The reason things do or don't happen in Capitalism is because of money. So, if these folks can get you to spend your money for something you already bought or rented, why would they stop that? It isn't as it seems. I don't know what all is in them, and they are the little ones! Think it is time to pull the trigger on a vintage Dymo! I used to have a modern one, but was all plastic and quickly broke!

I am post-concussion from a motor vehicle collision in 2002 with significant gaps in long term memory and issues with medium-term recall. I am probably also at least mildly ADD (I grew up before it had a label), so the post-con situation doesn't help matters.
I just found a store of parts I don't even remember ever having, from when I owned my w116. Right now I am trying to find some stuff I bought two weeks ago. This one has me mildly irritated with myself. Likewise my tool wrap with almost all my larger metric wrenches. This one really has me angry. How you lose a big tool wrap that probably weighs 7 pounds is beyond even me. Luckily it has poured rain here most of the weekend, so I haven't been able to do the wagon's glowplugs, which is why I need my wrenches. At least I now have myself disciplined to where I go out to the shed and root through the new and used parts bins before I order something. Last few years I have bought stuff that I already had at least four times. The used stuff I can give myself a break on as I can never seem to achieve a container logic that I can remember two weeks after I rearrange everything. But how I can forget a nice clean new box I just picked up six months prior.... owwww?

With Autism, one can have A.D.D./A.D.H.D. like symptoms, so knowing that, now practicing being present. What am I going to do, or what am I doing? Where am I? How am I feeling? Is it time to stop and take care of me? Why was the tool wrap not either in the wagen or in the tool box? I have the same issue, and on the second set of screw drivers, which at the rate I am going, will have to be replaced. I am working on a system that may work for many others. Just need to order something and sit down and create the program. Frustrating, isn't it? That is why I have all new parts on one pile of bins.

It is pretty scary. I have met many people socially since who have shared stories about loved ones or friends who had awful problems with post-concussion, including two women whose husbands went off the deep end with drugs and alcohol and left them (one killed himself). Divorce rate for post-con patients is very high within five years of incident. LOL if I knew that, dude, we wouldn't be having this exchange. The whole idea of the tool wraps was to avoid what you are going through (screwdrivers are THE worst, I now have bits and pieces of three sets). So far that aspect has worked very well. The wraps are very big, probably 25 pieces in each, so they don't fit in my toolboxes. But I always tried to keep them together (I have one for screwdrivers and two for wrenches), so I am doubly pissed at this.

Guess I need to put that in my accommodations at the University. Then, at least they know I am not lieing about forgetting an assignment! Though Google Calender has been a big help. Four years? Guess I better start in on treatment! I was too busy for my health, but an E.R. visit has changed that... Quote:
My issue with the screw drivers is doing something with them, getting side tracked, and setting it down somewhere. I had the second set all neatly in the drawer, but then didn't get finished with the Mercedes repair... Where did you get these roles from?
