300SDL Battery drain question
 

I had to replace the alternator in my 87 300SDL several weeks ago with a rebuilt Advance Auto unit. Everything seemed fine but I was noticing a slight glow from the battery light at night that would go out when you increased the rpms. Now on a couple of occasions in the morning the battery will be completely dead without enough power to engage the starter. Also last night my wife said that strange thing electrically were happening in the car. The radio was turning off and on and lights were flickering, etc.The battery does check out OK.

Could this be an issue with the new rebuilt alternator?

best to get a good BOSCH unit from an import auto parts source (like our wonderful site)
it's a fair bet, that the alternator is junk from china... return it. at a bare minimum, I'd go get one from a junkyard... a gasser alternator would even be an upgrade in amps. pull the alternator harness to the jumper block as well, and you've got a direct bolt on. V8 alternators have the outer flange reversed, just take out the 4 body bolts, and rotate the front plate 180 and it fits perfect.
