Got the rest of the car coming together... and some of it taken apart.

The car is an 80, so I decided it needed 1980 manifolds. My mom has moved states a few times in the last few years with her job, so I didn't want her to have manifolds with the EGR deleted. Figured it would be better for her to not have to asnwer any questions if anyone should ask. Also she wanted to ad an EGT and boost gauge, so this is a good time to drill and tap the manifold.

manifolds with EGR deleted

1980 manifolds

Also got rid of that red heater hose and got the correct metal pipe and hoses.

If anyone wants the EGR deleted manifolds, PM me and come pick them up. I'm not going to ship them, but if you wanna stop by, their free Or I could being them to the get-togethers that are on the horizon.

On that same note. I went to the Rancho Cordova Pick n Pull and found a 77 240D that had been swaped to a 617 turbo from a 116 SD. Its got the pre EGR manifolds on the car. I took the clips for the radiator, so the rest of the car is still there. It looks like the car has been under a tree for 20 years. lots of spiders and mud dobber nests. Might want to bring a can of Raid with you if your want to pull stuff from the car.

I'll take them if you don't mind. You can bring them with you to the cruise next month. Thanks, Rich

Am I the only one amazed at how cool you mom seems to be? You are building a custom turbo 617 4-speed 123 for her with euro trim, and she no only appears to know what an EGT and boost gauge are, but actually requests them! Incredible.

No you're not. I have met her, and she is cool. She seems to know what she likes and needs, and she has a great son that is willing and able to help her attain it.

Yep grabbed it from the junk yard. Its a bit rusty on the inside, but seems strong. MB should have made that out of stainless

LOL, my mom is cool. Shes the only mom in her 50s I know of who rides a skate board and plays W.O.W.

When I was in kindergarden her daily driver was the 88 F350 7.3L idi crew cab with a Banks turbo preformance pack on it. So when I talked to her about the EGT gauge she knew exactly waht I was talking about.

My same thought, I pulled the hoses off it and I was huh steel? Everything else on the car is aluminum including the lines going to the heater core...what gives mercedes

Hammum, I will look at my photos of my first baby, 1982 W123 300D. If I happen to have the color code captured I will post when I get home tonight.

Rich, can't wait to see you again and show off my new baby. I am planning my trip to pick her up with the GTG on 18 May in mind. We were going to drive the coast anyway and this appears to be becoming the thing to do and don't want to miss it.

Just got to say in closing - NIK is the best - son, mechanic, friend

Thanks, Peggy. I've been searching around and I think it might be Diamond Blue Metallic (DB355). Your previous 300D was beautiful. I'd like to use that same color when I re-paint mine.

Hammum, I have some information that was sent to me from Mercedes Benz about my 1982 - it states "exterior color code: 930 - silver blue". I will double check with my photos to ensure that is the color. I have the touch up paint I bought too and will check that. Either way I will varify that color and reply when I get home.
Peggy

Diamond Blue wasn't available until 1985.

Silver Blue Metallic is correct, I had a 1981 240D and a 1984 300D in the same color. My friend still has his 1984 300CD in silver blue as well. Fantastic color when it has some wax on it.
