For those in the hunt...

Although not Mercedes original quality etc. your local key shop can use an Axxess brand blank to cut a copy for you. Mine works as a valet key starting the car and opening the door, but not the trunk. I suspect that the kid at the machine didn't align things quite right.

A locksmith shop in town cut the same key from an ILCO blank (forget the number), and it works fine for everything.

I'll update this post with the numbers for the blanks.

I've seen the endless debates on brass vs metal keys, and have no desire to reopen the discussion, just wanted to let folks know that for a spare there are options out there.

Thanks,

Very nice product. Forgive my curiosity, but was it a great hassle to get MB to license your use of their logo?

You know, I've been real uncomfortable about raising this question, as I anticipated responses like yours. BTW, restaurants still occasionally give food to the poor. The ones that don't have their own reasons.

I'm not asking, however, to make trouble. I'm just assuming that this has been thought out and followed through, given the legal realities. I have some ideas for marketing other accessories (not competitive with these), and I'm just wondering how much it will take to get them off the ground.

Good question. Actually the star is not the the exact one mercedes uses. It has different thickness on the star and circle. Also the star's angles are different. The star i also a one piece with the lines.
