Thanks Houston. Like you I'm needing to put in a little love up front to ensure the car is 100% ready to be a daily driver. So far I'm finding very few issues mechanically. Small power steering fluid leak, engine oil confusion, etc. but overall the car is in fantastic shape. I'm happy to be the owner. Monday I plan to take it to an indy here that was recommended highly from a few people. He plans on doing a full overhaul with me there so we can look together and I can learn.

I still need to post back with some pictures. I'm hoping to have time over the weekend to do so.

Hello,

Congrats on your purchase! I bought my 300D last year from an owner that took meticulous care as well. If you don't mind sharing which Indy you are taking it to. I'm in the OC area, and like to find out good mechanics out there. Please share your experience after you get your car back.

Enjoy your car, I'm loving mine, as it was my first Diesel as well.

Hi Bcinoc,

I'm not familiar with the OC area however I took mine to Beverly Laurel Automotive in Hollywood. The owner (Shant) is incredibly knowledgable of older Benz diesels. He's a bit pricey but as thorough and honest as they come. I ended up putting a bit more into the car making it "daily driver ready" than I had in mind when I bought the car for $4000 however it's been worth every penny. I also did stuff that wasn't needed immediately but would be sooner than later. The car is literally rock solid and worth its weight in gold.

As promised, pictures are to come! I've been buys with the holidays and whatnot. This weekend I'll snap a few of the car cleaned up. Now that the mechanics are all in top shop I'm on a mission to fix some cosmetic issues.

Photos finally!

Finally found some time to snap some photos. Lighting and quality aren't the best but they'll have to do for now. I included photos of the paint peel on the roof and the rust spot in the door. Any recommendations for fixing either would be great. I'm also missing the cargo net on the driver side seat and the windlace needs replacing. The car rides like a dream. Did 70-80 the whole way to chop down our Christmas tree and Stu (the car's name) rode very smooth. I'm just trying to wrap up some cosmetic oddities but otherwise the car is great. Enjoy the holidays.

I'm currently in the process of finding a way to get the CA DMV to let me use the original blue plates. The owner had disability plates on there so the DMV issued me new plates. I have the blue plates. Oh well.
