Metal on oil cooler, trans, ps pump etc.

I am sure that they are original, or have only been changed if something was leaking, I am planning on just changing them all.

Has anyone ever just changed, or had changed for them, the rubber on the hoses and just had new rubber re-crimped on?

Reason i am asking is wondering if there has been very many failures of the metal on the hoses if at all?

sounds like a pain

The oil cooler lines would be the ones to go after. All the rest you can wait until they begin leaking. You have to get the hose assembly with metal barbs as a unit.

Here's a discussion on the idea of crimping on new rubber lines -

That's just the latest - there have been many other threads on the topic over the years.

Cool so it looks like there is no know issues with metal fatigue or anything with these lines, i have access to a hydraulic hose crimp tool so if i can find the hose and ferrules i should be good..... if not i think i will go have to look into the braided option, i actually have a similar set up on my E350 but from the trans cooler back to the transmission, in this case it was cracks from fatigue, it was so easy to just pop them on as opposed to trying to thread through new metal lines.

I just replaced my oil cooler lines with rubber and clamps....other members have done the same.....the warning is you must use the proper hose....the oil gets hot....and most hoses won't handle the heat....there has also been discussion about a crimp not being available for the metal hoses.....another issue many members have is striping the oil cooler nipples....hints why we do the clamp fix...

that kind of stinks and is also a good point. I know I could get in there and back up that nut on the cooler but if its all seized up together I might be taking a risk of damaging the cooler going to have to think about this one.
