i was thinking to monitor the total amount of amperage used by a fresh set of GP then disconnect one and use that as my set point for a bad GP or plugs that could then generate a light at the dash.

that was my thought using a 555 in a timing circuit but wondering if a eprom couldn't handle the timing function and it would all be incorporated on one single chip, i need to see if there is a way to program from a ipad or android devise maybe onto a flash eprom. that way you could actually program it to take input from the outside temp/motor temp and run a set time with a driver override that could say push a button in the cab and add 30 sec to the glow with a visual indication, if the light goes out and you have smoke start hit the button and start the GP for another 30 sec, or you could have a thermistor on the motor that would just cut and hold out the GP after a certain set point. also with a programmable system you could change it and dial it in if you are running WVO, diesel, WMO etc....

wireless can be done but too much to wrap my head around right now, going to replace the GP's so i can get some readings and start from there, right now just hacking the factory GP so i can override from inside.

ordering parts to get started will add what i can later, thinking the 555 could also be used to give a blinking red/green light on a dash if something was below a set point. when i was a kid i made up some lights for my add on gauges in my cars that would give different colors depending on the input, i was thinking on these cars with the oil leak problems with the hoses it would be good to come up with something similar and actually have it cut the motor in 15 sec unless the driver overrode the system the timer.....

too much time on my hands :/

think programmable is the way to go, there are a lot of things i keep thinking about adding that would be much easier if it was all just programmable. If i can find some open source software the uses libraries i may be able to do it pretty easy.

My thought now is keyless entry with a preglow on the GP that would time out in 1 min but could be overridden in the car if you wanted to add time. so by the time you get in and get your kit in the ignition it would be ready to start, could also start the WVO system if equipped
