I don't have the AZ 'ad,' but their (WM's) policy is to; "tell them at the register, and they will match it."

Will report back........
You will need to show them the ad or you won't have a leg to stand on. "Tell them at the register" simply means that you don't have to go to the customer service desk.

This sale is advertised in the circular around here...I think I will hit a store on my way home today and see if it works...

I only use about 4 gallons a year of the stuff currently....and don't have another oil change due for....at least 6-8 months.

My local AZ has the $12.99 sale price on a tag on the shelf... which now sits empty.

Another approach to take. Go to Walmart.com, find which locations have the oil, buy it online for regular price and store pickup, then negotiate the discount when you pick it up. Or you could just see which Walmarts have it in stock....but there's no guarantee it will still be there when you get to the store.

I considered this approach, but decided against it. You have no guarantee that they will price match, and I didn't want to commit to pay the full amount if they said no. I could find no way to get them to hold it for me unless I typed in my credit card number.

Since Mobil 1 doesn't appear in the photo in the AZ ad, part of me thinks it was a misprint. And Walmart (and AZ for that matter) has legal disclaimers if there is a typo in the ad. So if Walmart concludes it was a typo by the time you pick up your oil, you are on the hook for the full amount.

Also, slightly unrelated, but I was unable to figure out how to use the walmart.com website to confirm in-store stock. You are able to choose "ship to store" and I concluded that if the "ship to store" availability is "Today", then they probably have it in stock (or the website is lying). But I wasn't 100% sure until I was at the store.

Well, it may be that they'll dig-in, so I shot two pics of the AZ ad clearly stating the price/product/dates effective. There's an AZ store less than 1 mile from my nearest WM Supercenter, so it's worth the drive to fully prepare before surprising the WM employees.

Another verification factor @ the WM cashiers' disposal is any previous ad-matching activity on-going in that store's checking out systems. I learned this when my neighbor lady that cashiers @ that WM gave me price matching pricing on several grocery items I happened to be buying on one check out session. She looked up corresponding price matching of competing stores done previously on certain items, that thanks to other shoppers had done the lower grocery price matching, previously in the past few days. She was looking out for my benefit, because of our being acquainted. So, if another shopper has gotten the price match on this Mobil 1 oil ! $12.99, they'll see it at check out if they'll look.

Your only risk would be the inconvenience....if you were getting stuck with full price you could just return it, no questions asked.

Once you click on the product, it will show you in stock (or not) at your local store. But then there's an option to choose another store, which will bring up a bunch of locations and, for each one, it will tell you whether it's in stock or out of stock....BUT it will not display a quantity.

Haha! I am embarrassed to admit that I hadn't thought about that option. Please don't let anyone know how stupid I can be at times.

Went to a AZ store on Hillside Ave in Queens Village, got 2 gallons from the shelve and ordered 4 gallons. Will pick up tomorrow. Total saving is $100. This will be good for me till next year.
