For me its about hot oil flowing faster, taking sediment towards and out of the drain plug with it.

I agree but does it drain from the cam lobes to the pan more slowly because the drain plug is in place? Oil doesn't wait for the drain plug to be removed to drain from the head to the pan.

I'm not convinced. Particularly on our cars with oil coolers. Far more yucky stuff is caught in the oil cooler loop than is worth scraping off the side walls of the oil pan. On the other hand, there's no compelling reason to drain the oil cold so hot it is Mind you, I've deformed a couple of Topsider hoses, the big one between the tank and stiffer tube, by draining the oil right after shutting off a hot engine.

But when the oil is cold, it's more viscous (it's thicker), so it drains out more slowly. And even if you're willing to wait longer for it to drain out, it's likely that a bit more oil will remain coated on the inside walls of the engine when you're done. Not a lot more than if the oil was warm, but a little more.
There'll only be more oil left on the inside walls of the oil pan. As much oil will drain off the rest of the engine whether it drains into the sump or out of the sump into a pan.

If you extract the oil while it's hot it moves fast enough.

Of course you shouldn't have chunks in there in the first place. If you oil has globs that move too slow for an extractor to suck up you have bigger issues.

642 has a drain plug. Sump is aluminum. Thinking about getting a Fumoto valve for it since the way they implemented it in the Jeep dumps oil on other things under there. Or I'll just get a topsider...about had enough with leaky pans and drain plugs falling down and plugging the drain hole on the container..........

I've never taken the belly pan off my dad's CDI but the 648 should be almost identical to the 606...everything below the head is remarkably similar.
