White Smoke at Cold Idle
 

98 E300D, 32F ambient, cold engine. Started car to fire up the heated seats. After several minutes, I noticed white smoke coming out the exhaust. Is this explainable simply in terms of lack of heat resulting in unburnt fuel? Or could I have a problem of some sort?

There's no white smoke at any other times. Coolant level is stable as far as I can tell.

Is it just kicking condensation out of the exhaust system? All of our cars do that in the cold, especially when it is cold enough to see your breath.

Was there a smell to the smoke?
