124 300D battery drain (not the usual suspects)

124's are way not my specialty, but get them from time to time. This one doesn't fit any of the classic battery drain issues, but it's 3.6amps, enough to kill a batt overnight, at least so it can't start.

What I've tried (DC'd, checked drain):

- Antenna (NC - no change)
- RH trunk radio amp (NC)
- Trunk light switch (NC)
- Trunk light wiring (no issues/shorts - NC when DC'd)
- Pull all fuses (NC)
- Replaced OVP relay with OEM/German (NC)
- Pulled alternator conn (NC)
- Vacuum pump wires (NC)
- CCM (under rear seat, LH) (NC)
- Various engine compartment conns (NC)
- All door dome-light switches (NC)
- Glove box light (NC)

EDIT (now checked, thanks for advice, still current draw):

- GP relay DC'd
- Alarm module DC'd

Only thing that saw a slight INCREASE in draw was turning headlight switch on (to parking L,R, then full on), turning it back off didn't change the drain, but it remained high (4a)

Anyone with a 124 have more ideas on amp drains?

Factory security system? Aftermarket stereo, amp, alarm or RKE?

Sixto, thanks, tried security system (no effect when completely DC'd), Amp, NOT aftermarket stereo. No change in draw.

What is the status of your battery? New or new-ish. What temp is it in CO now? Ground strap status?

Have you tried removing fuses until the draw stops? It'll help to isolate the draw to a fused circuit.

I did as posted above and found the dome light causing it. Replaced the dome light assembly and no more issue.

New batt (not saying much these days, but it tests out fine)

Temp is heated garage temp.

Ground strap perfect (no corrosion, 100% ground to chassis, alt charges at 13.94volts)

Of course. First thing I try on any vehicle. All fuses pulled. As stated in my original post. No diff in current draw. Coming from a non-fused circuit or a fuse outside of the box.

Could be. They are always finicky. Dome light appears to work properly with door switches, goes off as should, but the circuit in there might be drawing without lighting the bulb I suppose. Will pull it and test draw with it DC'd (did pull the bulb though, no change when I did that)

Did you move further aft from the fuse box and pull relays? IIRC the aux fan(s) have a fuse outside the main fuse box. For kicks you could pull the OVP relay, the other relays behind the battery and the airbag module (passenger kick panel).

Pulled all relays I could find. No change. Changed out the OVP with new/German. No change. For the aux fans, I'll look for their fuse, thanks. Did pull the airbag module and DC'd the alarm in the pass kick panel. No change.

where did you look for the relays you could find? you need to take out the 4 phillips screws and remove the upper portion of the fuse box cover to get at the headlight and seat control relays... there is also a circuit breakout under the drivers' floor mat... up by the steering wheel maybe? Jay_Bob is the guru on 124 wiring.
