Door lock speed?

I have completely rebuilt my vac system, diaphrams, hoses, master element, pump etc. My tank holds pressure (15 in) for days. My locks work but seem to take a long time to engage/disengage, over a minute. Is this normal for my model or should I be looking at somthing else? Thanks

Steve019,

My 1975 240D had a similar locking system, and even when it leaked severely the locks would cylcle the little pull knobs at each door in less than 10 seconds. Sounds like you have some clogged lines or a leak in the door lock system. The hard tubing that goes through the door jambs was a spot on my car when it aged. The tubing would crack from getting old and being flexed a little every time the door opened or closed. Hope this helps, Jim

Steve, Time your locks and tell us how long it took,,, I expect that it is like boiling water,,, when you are standing there looking at them,,, and thinking about all the " how to fix your vacuum lines" threads on this forum that 10 seconds will feel like an eternity....when in fact there is nothing wrong... Remember you don't want it to snap those locks down and sound like some cheap small car... you want a dignified movement of the locking pins.... Greg
