pass.
anybody want it?
I'd offer 350 and walk.
If it were closer, I would take a gander. But as it's not running or near, id take it for $350 too.

That car is a disaster. Forget it unless you want to part it out. Even then, $500 max.

If you don't mind my saying so, you don't have time to part it let alone get it running. You'll be begging someone to haul away this hulk a couple of years from now when the city complains about your yard. On the other hand, he'll be begging you to haul it away in a couple of years and it won't have racked up a single mile.

John, I don't like anything about the deal or car. Even if the guy gave it to you. That thing's going on 35 years old. As is it's a money pit, a time pit, and top it off, SLs don't bring a lot of money. Furthermore, the guy called you - you didn't call him. Who tries to sell a literal 'fire-sale,' dented car with no wheels, tires, and a partially stripped body? John, that thing's a parts car with a salvage title.

I would not touch it unless I was going to do Diesel conversion and had the parts.

I do have a set of SL tail lights I want to sell. They are pretty nice. They need seals as you would expect.

while I think a COOL conversion would be to pull out the servo junk, and install manual controls, and a nice OM602 turbo should pull that like nobody's business... and I DO have a lot of spare parts to perform this if I chose to...

I'm hoping someone on here wants it for the parts to preserve many many many treasured SL's...
it ain't gonna be me!

$300 is a great price for the interior and other bits to spruce up a '74 or '75 SL with manual AC. IIRC '73s are more desired because of the first model year.

The guy wants 1700 dollars for an unverified motor that's been on fire, and a 35 year old car missing tons of parts? Who cares about the mileage at that point, its irrelevant if the motor caugh fire. Ask the guy what he's smoking, and its better if it isn't a chunk of wiring harness

Let's not get upset with the $1700 thing unless he's not going to budge on the price.

He probably feels $300 is too low and has gone for his ideal price in "retaliation"

I'd most definitely buy something like that for $600 to $800 may be more if I got a good feeling from it when I went to see it...
