w116 300sd brake lines
Own a 1979 300sd (w116) and need advice on brake lines. My brake lines are cracked and are looking pretty bad. I checked with the classic center and the brake lines are:
Fronts: 38.50 each Rears: 27.00 each My questions are the following: Who makes the brake lines for Mercedes? Which other brake line manufacture is highly recommended? Which brake line manufacture do I stay away from? If the dealer is the way to go then thats fine with me. I just want the best quality brake lines on my car. Please advise |

Have you checked the selection through the site sponsor?
1979 Mercedes-Benz 300SD Base Sedan - Brake Hydraulics - Page 2 I think we can still trust Ate. Febi has some questionable quality of late and you have to wonder why Meyle puts Germany all over their packaging except at the end of "Made in." If your original hoses have been in service for 35 years? Dealer list is a worthwhile investment to last until 2049 Flush the brake fluid every couple of years and the next set of hoses might last the rest of your lifetime. Sixto 87 300D |

I think I remember one of Squigle Dogs posts mentioning that his brake lines had an ATE tag on them...I like your recommendation of going with ATE. Thanks

If you are Speaking of the Hoses.
I have aftermarket Hoses bought locally put on 5 Years a go with no issues. Unlike a most aftermarket Parts the Brake Hoses have to meat a DOT (Department of Transportatin Guide Lines). I can't remember specifically what maker they were but I have used Raybastos, Brakeware and Wagner Brake Hoses on My Various Vehicles and never hand any issue with Brake Hoses on any of My Cars.
