w123 300td Engine bay pics
 

I'm trying to route lines underneath the hood on my wagon. The engine was sitting in the car, unhooked, no lines attached, etc when I bought it. I've painted the engine bay now, so no dirt lines, etc to help me figure out where everything originally was.

I'm looking for decent pictures from the firewall to the headlights over each wheel well. I've got my 84 300D for reference, but I'm not sure about the TD specific stuff and if anything is different.

These are from my 83 300D back in 2005, all stock setup:

All I can think of is the SLS system that would be different from your other car.

BaT Exclusive: Clean 1985 Mercedes Benz 300TD

I can get you more pics of anything on an 85 wagon you want later this weekend. I'm sure others can get it for you faster.

andrew, thank you. I'm sure someone else who discovers this thread in the future will appreciate those.

However, I should have specified, I have a 1983 300TD. The 1985 has SLS routed on the driver's side and is different than pre 85 models in other respects.

The 85s have a few items not found on an 83, such as the pressure converter, blue flying saucer and ARV on the turbo.

It also has a different connection to the ALDA.

Even though the OP asked for 83TD, I didn`t come across a 83 yet.

MBeige, my jaw drops every time I see pics of your car. All that corrosion protection on those hard lines, did you buy it that way, buy new ones or can you restore them? That is a mighty high bar to set!

My former 81 TD-T (sorry Jimmy :D) is similar to the 83, but I only have one pic of it unfortunately. The only difference I can tell is the SLS reservoir and pump, as well as obviously the hydraulic lines. It should be similar to an 82 also, whoever has pics of theirs.

Here are more of my 83 300D (sans SLS) for reference. For vacuum lines use my original image above, I made some modifications to the stock setup by adding the inline filter and check valve for my vacuum adjustable headlights (unless you want to use those too).

Yep, my car looks like your original ownership picture! I sure would like to know how you made the transition to the "new" car look. Is that new stuff or is that old school elbow grease?

Are the inline fuel filters on the vac lines for pump seal failure protection? Great idea.

Thank you for taking the time to post the very clear, high-quality pictures. I'm having vacuum problems and was searching for a long time to find actual pictures of the vacuum lines routing. Now, I've got some work to do.
