OM606.962 - no oil pressure sensor?

I was looking at EPC for my 98 E300DT and noticed that the filter tower has a pipe plug in the port where the oil sensor would go if it were an earlier model.

The only oil-related sensor I can find for this car in EPC is the pan level sensor. But if you have an oil pump failure the level sensor isn't going to tell you that there is a problem. You will just hear the engine in its death cry as it spins its rod bearings.

Are any of the rest of you OM606 owners concerned about that? I have read several stories on the board lately about OM606s failing and I wonder if this has something to do with it.

Or maybe I'm all wrong, and there is a pressure sensor in another location and it throws an alarm on the computer display below the speedometer. It would really help if MB would hurry up and get the W210 data online the way they have for the older models....

Yes, this is a source of great concern to me as well. Enough of a concern that I'm installing a gauge to monitor the pressure.

See what Jeremy did on his 606.910 - http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/280490-simple-oil-pressure-alarm-diy.html . You'll have to use the plug location if your car has a plastic filter cap.
