Smile The "Russian" EPC is back again!

HAPPY NEW YEAR Just fooling around this PM and thought, hey let's check the Russian EPC. It has been pretty much gone, just listing page after page of parts numbers with very basic names. I was unhappy with it, as I love to use it - it is so much easier to use I think then the Mercedes EPC. Here is the page for the 240D.

Mercedes Benz EPC 123.123 Chassis Information | Everything Benz

and here is the front page for the whole index, all cars. Just find your vehicle group on this page and you can bring up your model complete. It looks like it also supports more parts outlets for Eastern European cars. The drawn diagrams seem to be better also in this new format. Maybe not, but I think so.

Clicking on the link I get this everythigbenz.com which does not look like a Russian site since I see no Russian, all English.

Index to Mercedes EPC Parts Info and Diagrams | Everything Benz

Clicking on the parts pics leads to multiple vendors for the part including Amazon, ********az and others.

Did you post the correct links or has the Russian site been transformed?

Drill on down through the pages to get to see components and you'll find yourself on a Russian site. This site has "always" been there but for a while all of the handy pictures were gone.

I did. I looked for 123.133 vacuum pump and came up to this page

Mercedes A 0005864043 Vacuum Pump Repair Kit | Compare Prices

Don't look Russian to me.

You are correct - that bit ain't the Russian bit

But if you start off with the first link that Jim posted you will find something like this on the first page if you click on the link for "Engine Housing"

Êàòàëîã MERCEDES

This bit is Russian and it is a rip off of EPC (where as the other part of the site you are looking at is suggesting where to buy stuff)

Well that is a good question. I have been bothered with an awful lot of malware and adware and I had no idea where it comes from. We have three computers and the 2 with the "Russian EPC' get hit hard at times. I have set up more defense and have stopped a lot of it, but not all. If you have any more info on this junk, let us know. It is not worth messing with if they drop junk into our computers. I am going to get it off my laptop today.

free version

This is not anti-virus software. It finds and removes a lot of things that AV software does not such as PUPs - Probably Unwanted Programs. PUPs can contains anything from annoying adware to malicious processes that steal identity/etc.

I'm leery of Russian sites simply because my wife manages an electronic fraud dept. in a bank. The things I hear at night startle me.

WHY

Why would ANY north American resident bother with the Russian website?

The MBUSA EPC website is FREE.........
.
.
.
Mercedes Benz (EPC) Electronic Parts Catalog
EPC-net Online

Remove all versions of JAVA on your computer using add or remove programs or programs and features in the control panel.

Go to Where can I get the latest version of Java 6?

Download the 32 BIT version of JAVA, version 38, install and retry EPC.net.

32 BIT is required for EPC.net and version 6.

Version 7 or 64bit versions are not supported at this time.

I was able to get EPC running on my desktop PC.

Windows 8.1, Java 7 (64-bit) version 51.

I did have to go into the security settings for Java and turn it down to "medium" security level and add the following to the exception list.

https://epc.startekinfo.com
https://aftersales.i.daimler.com
http://retailfactory.mercedes-benz.com

In Windows 8, hover the mouse over the upper right corner of the desktop, click on the magnifying glass and type Java in the search box, then select Configure Java.
