'05 E 320 CDI Oil Change Today

12,000 miles on Mobil 1 Formula M, and it used less than 1/2 quart. It has 134000 miles on it. I thought this was good performance.
I have been pleased with this car; I bought it with about 106000 miles from a M-B dealer.
I wonder about the newer cars: the controls and features seem so complex and I don't have much use for most of them. I do appreciate quality, though.

I believe that they're a value play, used car to buy. I too, bought an E320 CDI - an 06 from a Mercedes-Benz dealer, with ALL maintenance and parts repair records last year. For what I paid for it, I consider it a tremendous value priced bargain.

What is the recomended oil change intervals for these engines? I am about to pull the trigger on one this week.
My last diesel being an 06 Cummins 6 popper had a 7K mile interval for oil change, 12K sounds steep.
What's the concensus as far as which is the best to use for an 80Kplus mile car? Mobil 1?

Thanks

Depends on driving conditions....if a lot of freeway you can go 10k+, if a lot of city a 7-8k change might be a good idea.

You can trust the computer montoring, it will tell you when it needs service based upon how you drive the car.

Your engine will have a specific oil spec based upon its engine and emission components. Follow it.

I don't know how clean the CDI runs, but on my '03 Cummins, I change the oil at 18K miles and it's still clean. If it weren't for the fact that it's a 5/30 grade, I'd give it a second run through my signature car.

I did as per manufacturer's recommendations which was 7K miles. Now if it were up to the stealership service department I would have had to do it every 3K miles
You can always count on them to figure out a way to conn you out of your cash

I change mine when the service indicator says. No problems. Oil is so much better than it used to be. NO varnish nor sludge inside the engine. None. I looked, that's how.

My wife's OM642 powered ML320 CDI says about 3.5 k miles to Service B. What does Service B entail? I think it's oil change, fuel filter, and general inspection but I am not sure.
